FolkHeart Press - Modern Food Lore

A cartoon lemon sits on a wooden plate. A screen capture from Compostable Morsels, a short poem short film series

Making “Compostable Morsels” was so far, the most unique project in my writing journey. I discovered that I really loved taking words, putting them to music and film, and then posting them on YouTube for all to see. It was a great experience that expanded my creative skills and I’ve since gone on to make other short poetry films.

I wasn’t sure what the response would be, if any, but I was so grateful that they sparked enough interest on Twitter to catch the notice of FolkHeart Press, a very kind and generous presence in the writing world. When they reached out and said that they wanted to do an interview, needless to say, I was very excited.

Read the interview Modern Food Lore in which I chat with the wonderful artist and writer Karen Pierce Gonzalez about the “Compostable Morsels” film series,  food folklore, and why I chose to make a film about an apple.

A big thank you to FolkHeart Press for sharing their space and presence. Please visit FolkHeart Press for their latest blogs and updates as they continue to discover new artists and explore fresh twists on the world of folklore.
