Janus Literary - Volume 1, Issue 4

Sometimes the idea for the form comes before the actual story. I’ve been wanting to do a hybrid prose/poetry piece for some time now. Perhaps that was in the back of my mind when I sat down to write this little piece about wandering the house at night and the things we don’t see.

As I was editing, there were some lines I loved, but something about them didn’t match the narrator that was driving the main story. But I really didn’t want to get rid of them. So, I ended up splitting them out into little mini poems and putting them in between the text.
