When She Thinks About Auroras

Back in May, I was lucky enough to catch some amazing views of the Aurora Borealis quite close to home, and it got me thinking. Inspiration is a funny thing. Sometimes people will ask me what inspired a story or poem. Usually, they want to know what spark began the words on the page. But here’s the thing. A piece doesn’t always have just one spark at the beginning, but can have several throughout. This story had already begun some months ago, wallowing in editing limbo, waiting for something to tie it together. While the aurora wasn’t the original inspiration for this story, it was the spark that allowed me to finish it. And in this journey of writing, endings are just as important as beginnings.

In case anyone is wondering, yes, the picture for this post is from that night.
