Favorite Corners - Tokyo

It's time to say, "Sayonara, Tokyo."  We've had a lot of fun in this city and the people are very gracious, polite, and eager to share their culture.  They also play the sounds of birds chirping into their subway stations.  I'm not a fan of big cities in general, but if I had to pick a favorite, I think Tokyo would be it...for now.  Unfortunately, we can't share everything we've done or else this post might never end. So, here are the best of the rest!

Beautiful old torii gates welcoming us...

A traditional wedding procession during our visit to the Meiji Shrine.

Walking through the wooden torii near the Inari fox shrine in Ueno park.

Visiting an owl cafe (Akiba Fukurou) in the Akihabara district.  And yes, they are real owls.  Jimmy learned the hard way: the bigger the owl, the bigger the poop.

Signs from Shinjuku (our home base during our stay).

Taking in the free 45th floor view from the observation deck of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building.

The world's busiest pedestrian crosswalk is in Shibuya.  It may look crazy, but when you walk through it, the people just flow around you.

Piles of prayers at the Tushima Tenman-gu shrine.

This is the subway.  This is not during rush hour.

Girls wearing traditional yukatas were a popular sight at Sensoji temple.

One of the many small restaurants in the alleys of Memory Lane.

The Golden Gai, home to many tiny bars (some only hold 5-6 people) crammed into a few narrow alleyways.

Kill Bill-ing it at the Samurai Museum.

Plum blossoms and cherry blossoms just starting to bloom.

Enjoying the Edo style architecture on a day trip to Kawagoe.

Whew! And we're done!
