Food Fridays - Belfast & London

We hit Belfast and London pretty much back to back with very little time in each.  Pub grub washed down with a nice Irish brew was a must eat in Ireland, and we couldn't stop in London without hitting our favorite food area.  We also discovered that Londoners are currently obsessed with...curry?!

We hit a pub for some wings and mac'n'cheese.  Ah...comfort food!

On the subject of comfort food, what's more comforting than warm chocolate cake and ice cream?

Guiness and Ireland are pretty synonymous, but Ireland also is home to Harp Lager which is one of Jimmy's faves.

With the Euro Cup going on right now, one of the restaurants we ate at had team-themed pizzas.  We went for Team Italia because, well, the toppings sounded better.

Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey ice cream.  A fitting dessert in Ireland.

Roasted duck, steamed rice, and stir fried morning glory in fermented soy bean paste. Yes, there are similar pictures earlier in the blog, but London's Chinatown has really great Chinese food and it's been almost four months since we've had really great Chinese food!

Went to a Bombay café in London which felt like a renovated warehouse with lazy overhead fans, wicker furniture, a smattering of rickety bookshelves and amazing Indian food: okra fries, awadhi lamb biryani, house special black daal.

This benign looking dessert was one of the weirdest we've had.  It's called Kala Khatta Gola Ice and is made of shaved ice, kokum fruit syrup, blueberries, chilli, lime, and white and black salt.  It's icy, spicy, sweet, sour, and salty.  Our tastebuds were so confused.
