Food Fridays - Madrid

Alright, we admit it.  We indulged in a lot less Spanish cuisine than we could've.  Why?  It's not because Madrid's food was bad.  Quite the contrary. Two months without Asian food was leaving a strong craving in our bellies and Madrid has a great international food culture.  So, we had Korean, Japanese, and...well, McDonald's isn't Asian, but definitely comfort food.  We did manage a few Spanish plates in between our guilty feedings.

Arroz negro, paella darkened with squid ink

Our first tapa.  Tender delicious oxtails.

Chocolate with churros...breakfast of champions.

While we're the subject of sweet stuff, here's a crepe with chocolate sauce, pears, and vanilla ice cream.  Yes, okay, not really Spanish either, but very good.

Buckwheat flour crepe with spinach, ham, and cheese.

A breakfast dish of eggs, shrimp, beans, and potatoes.

Chips toast topped with cream cheese and walnuts and salmon and oregano.

Sardines and juicy olives

Tried a bit of regular paella while we were here too.

Chorizo and vegetable soup

Roast quail and fries
