Food Fridays - Reykjavik
Icelandic food is fresh, fun, creative, and...EXPENSIVE. Usually, we're able to find some local cheap options, but not here. We had to swallow the cost, along with the delicious food, and chalk it up to part of the experience of being in Iceland.
WARNING: For those who are squeamish, DO NOT scroll to the end. Stop after the pink cake (Glassenkaka). There's a sheep's head that even I couldn't watch Jimmy eat.
Fried duck breast with hazelnut crumble, fig yuzu glaze, and ponzu marinated enoki mushrooms
The Kaffivagnann fish pan - cod loin au gratin with shrimp and bernaise (best dish we had here)
Arctic char and scallops with celery root and potato purée
Beef slider in a brioche bun
Gyoza pizza with goat cheese, beet root, pico de gallo, and truffle ponzu
Smoked lamb on rye, a delicious way to eat lamb
Lamb with pork and beef hot dog from the oldest hotdog chain in Reykjavik from 1937. Get it with everything on it.
Icelandic meat soup
The label in the window said "Glassenkaka"
