Kensington Market

Despite the name, Kensington Market is not really a market in the traditional sense and is actually a multi-cultural microcosm a few corner turns away from Chinatown.  Funky shops, hole-in-the wall cafes and unusual little eateries litter a few blocks of re-purposed buildings making it an interesting place to explore and grab a few fun things to eat.

It's rainy and 10 degrees outside, but which little snack spot still has a line of people going outside the shop?  The churro place, of course.

A few bucks gets a fistful of hot, sugar-crunched dough and three choices of filling: chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla.

We were only here for a few hours but we did try two coffee shops, the first was Casa Coffee.

A perfect place (while not quite the warmest) to sit and watch life in Kensington Market go by.

Welcome to Seven Lives.  When a place is as crowded as this place was, it's got to be good (plus it came highly recommended from someone in the know).

The Pulpo a la Mexicana, aka octopus taco.  Grilled octopus, onions and peppers wrapped in a soft blue tortilla she'll.  Muy deliciosa!

Jamacan food and Italian food together?  Yep, that's what Rasta Pasta does and it actually works!  Here's jerk chicken over a penne pasta and a wonderfully tasty side of ackee and saltfish, a Jamaican national dish.

Yep, there is actually a coffee shop called "Jimmy's Coffee", so of course, we had to go inside.  It's a cozy little place with pictures of famous people named, you guessed it, Jimmy.

The best thing to do after filling our bellies? Doing a little window shopping!
