Finalist in the Writers’ Union of Canada Short Prose Competition for Emerging Writers
I don’t submit to contests often. In my mind, they’re intimidating and usually a long shot. But, after a little coaxing from my mentor, I decided to send something into the Writers’ Union of Canada’s Short Prose Competition for Emerging Writers and…I made it as a finalist! My short story “A Use for Marrow and Bone” placed in the top 12 out of 580 submissions. I was giddy and in disbelief for days after I found out. I guess bottom line, it never hurts to submit.
The official press release (yes, there is an actual press release!) can be found on the Writers’ Union of Canada website.
