Nominated for Best of the Net 2023

It’s been a quiet year for writing. Actually, I shouldn’t say that. It’s been a quiet year for publishing the things I write. There are things sitting around waiting to be polished up, long-winded drafts that need to be trimmed down, and a few larger works floating out in the submission ether trying to find a home.

Sometimes, things find a good home and that is the end of their story, but some things continue to pop up, have a rejuvenation, a resurfacing, or in this case, an award nomination. This one is doubly special because this poem was cobbled together from the discards of another poem. They not only became their own poem, they got published, and now these dear scraps are getting some extra love.

Very grateful to Pinhole Poetry for seeing something in this poem worthy of nomination: “Notes to Myself on Chore Day

And sometimes, during very lucky years, this happens more than once.

A big thank you to Roi Fainèant for nominating a piece very close to my heart: “Lactic Acid
