On a Cliff Overlooking an Empty Golf Course

Literary Namjooning is a new lit mag on the literary horizon focussing on pieces related to self-care and appreciating the gentler things in life, a theme which fits my writing style well. I’m very thrilled to be a part of their very first issue along with some very familiar names.

Creative non-fiction is not my usual writing mode. I like to tweak my experiences with the word “fiction”, wrap them in the perceptions of characters, or hide them in the imagery of poetry. This piece about the very first time I ever saw the Aurora Borealis was never intended to be non-fiction and I thought it would end up in one of the other two genres which I like: poetry and flash fiction. Sometimes we find labels after the fact.
