The Stillwater Review - Volume 8
This time, it's all about art.
A big thanks to The Stillwater Review for giving two poems a new home. Although these poems now sit side-by-side, they had very different beginnings and it never crossed my mind that they might end up together in the end.
"Notes from the Art Museum" was written across the ocean in Osaka, Japan. Mostly inspired by a 2017 visit to The National Museum of Art, the poem really did start out as a compilation of quick notes I jotted down as I wandered about.
The idea for "Still Life Portraits" began on a wintry morning commute as I watched a group of children slip and slide their way through the streets, all framed by a frosty bus window. It was written almost a decade ago, and has been kicking around on my computer until now.
