Favorite Corners - Hong Kong & Guangzhou We did a little shopping at PMQ which contains shops from local Hong Kong artisans and designers ranging from food to fashion to furniture. Tiny figurines in front of a store window in PMQ. We took an hour ferry ride from Hong Kong... ...to Cheung Chau island where we saw fishing boats docked in the harbour... ...a drizzly but serene beach... ...interesting old alleyways... ...and a dog latrine, complete with reading material. In Guangzhou, we visited Shamian Island where we saw some of the colonial style architecture... ...something that could be a Chihuly... ...and this. Guangzhou's new financial district has some amazing sky scrapers... ...a new Guangzhou Library building that contains book sanitizers (pop in a book and in a few seconds it's ready)... ...and great views of the Canton Tower soaring 1,968 feet into the air.
