Food Fridays - Osaka - Drinks and Dessert Edition

It's hard to wander through Osaka without snacking.  Little shops (and even some not-so-little shops) are everywhere offering bite-sized treats and beverages.  With the average price hitting only a dollar or two, there are a ton of sweet deals to keep us fueled up and going.  

Welcome to Blue Jean Bakery near Osaka station.  One of the few things on my "must-eat" list...neko-no-te, a cat-paw-shaped confection of soft cookie filled with cream.

Pablo, makers of the heavenly soft moist cheese tart.  Think cheesecake done medium rare.  

We couldn't go to Harry Potter World in Universal Studios Japan without sampling some frozen butter beer.  The flavor is actually something very familiar.

Traditional hand-made yomogi (mugwort) mochi filled with adzuki red bean paste and sprinkled with kinako.

Ice cream sandwich, Japanese style.

Because we're here at the tail-end of the hot weather, ice cream is a popular treat.  And there are way more flavors here than plain old vanilla.  Try soy milk, black sesame, hojicha (roasted matcha tea), and the wonderful white peach.  

Rikuru is a cheesecake chain famous for their light fluffy, almost sponge-like cheesecakes.  

A grape flavored frappaccino with chunks of grape jelly and whipped cream.  It may be Starbucks, but we definitely don't get these back home! 

Okay, the drinks themselves were so-so, but when the one on the left is stirred, the syrups mix, and blue day becomes a glass of dark night, complete with a lemon peel moon.

Last call at the Osaka airport and our last time to taste that tart citrusy fruit, the yuzu.
