There is a ton of beautiful street art in Toronto, but if you want to get the biggest bang for your buck, head over to Graffiti Alley. This kilometer back alley stroll between Spadina Avenue and Portland Street was made famous as the back drop to Rick Mercer's political TV show "The Mercer Report", but even if that tidbit doesn't grab you, the artwork definitely will.
Read MoreWe had a free day in Toronto before moving onto our next destination. The issue with Toronto, as with any big city really, is it's impossible to see everything. Due to our short time here, we didn't feel like waiting in lines to do the standard "connect-the-dots between the big tourist attractions" routine and instead, we opted to hit a few neighborhoods and streets to see what else we could find.
Read MoreIt's been 6 months since we've returned. Do we miss being on the road? Oh yes! But we also know that there are many more travels in our future. To ring in the new year, we took a quick trip up north to the capital city of Alberta to wander a few ice castles and stroll through a winter wonderland.
Happy 2017!
Read MoreWell, we made it!
1,882,357 steps walked (per person). 8,385 pictures taken. 42 cities wandered. 24 planes ridden. 18 countries crossed. 17 languages heard. 11 currencies spent. It all adds up to 1 amazing trip.
Read MoreOur time in Cornwall was spent weaving in and out of seaside towns and discovering villages tucked between the grassy patchwork of farmer's fields. While in these nooks and crannies of the countryside, we never tired of the many food options available. We tried some classics like fish'n'chips and cream tea, but also made some new edible discoveries along the way too.
Read MoreWe've seen some gorgeous sunsets on our travels, but the winner for best sunset of the entire trip goes to Towan Beach in our Cornish home base city of Newquay.
Read MoreCornwall was one place that wasn't on our original itinerary. We'd heard about it here and there, but it wasn't until our guesthouse owner in Malta raved about the beautiful scenery (and we were quite smitten with Malta's scenery at that point) that our curiosity grew. So, when we were ready to look for our final destination in the U.K., we figured why not! What's in Cornwall? Just the usual things...space age domes, a jaw-dropping cliff side theatre, intriguing little stone circles, oh yeah, and a ton of beautiful scenery.
Read MoreWe hit Belfast and London pretty much back to back with very little time in each. Pub grub washed down with a nice Irish brew was a must eat in Ireland, and we couldn't stop in London without hitting our favorite food area. We also discovered that Londoners are currently obsessed with...curry?!
Read MoreLondon has been the setting for a great many stories, and as we're nearing the final chapters of our trip, how could we not include a stop here to take in a few things old, new, and possibly true.
Read MoreThere are places in this world where the mere mention awakens the inner-traveller, stirring up wanderlust, and a desire to learn more about the story and mystery hidden between the syllables of a name. These places become a must see. We took a day out from Belfast to explore the beautiful rugged coast of Northern Ireland and to visit one these special places for us...the Giant's Causeway.
Read MoreIcelandic food is fresh, fun, creative, and...EXPENSIVE. Usually, we're able to find some local cheap options, but not here. We had to swallow the cost, along with the delicious food, and chalk it up to part of the experience of being in Iceland.
WARNING: For those who are squeamish, DO NOT scroll to the end. Stop after the pink cake (Glassenkaka). There's a sheep's head that even I couldn't watch Jimmy eat.
Read MoreAlthough the temperature was a mild 10 degrees Celsius, it felt down right chilly after our time dabbling in the Southern European sun. Our cold gear made a final encore appearance. Donning winter jackets and thermal layers, we took to the streets of this unusual city that has summers of continual daylight, homes heated with geothermal steam, and the occasional whiff of sulfur in the air.
