Acropolis Journal, Issue 2: Moon

It’s no secret. My travels fuel my writing. We stayed close to home this year, and it was a good reminder that there are still new places to explore here in our own backyard. So, yes. The Ghost Reservoir in this poem is a real place. And yes, I loved discovering and visiting it for the first time this year. However, I did not visit it at night. I left that up to my imagination, and this poem is the result.

Read “Ghost Reservoir on a Mid-Autumn Night” in Acropolis Journal, Issue 2: Moon.

The day this poem was released, I was approached by the Blue Door to the Cosmos and asked if they could feature my poem in their next episode. Blue Door to the Cosmos is a podcast that specializes in soothing poetry readings and I am so honored they read my poem as part of Season 3, Episode 4: Poems on a theme of Memory. The whole episode is a beautifully rendered tribute to memory and I highly recommend taking in the whole episode, however, if you want to skip to my poem, the reading begins at 14:35.

Leaves find their fire

on the edge of an aging summer

just before their fallen bodies

mar a mirror’s surface
