ARC Poetry Magazine 93

This year, I had the opportunity to be mentored by ARC Poetry’s Poet in Residence Stevie Howell. One of my poems that we worked on was selected to be one of the features for the Poet in Residence program. “The Boxing Trees” is now in ARC Poetry Magazine 93.

One of the most impactful suggestions that she gave me was to play with the format. Originally, all the lines were in standard stanzas tucked tight against the left hand side. Stevie suggested letting the poem spread and take up space to add to the feeling of something broken or shattered. So grateful to ARC Poetry Magazine for this mentorship program that helps emerging writers further their craft.

When daylight leaks through morninG cracks, it’s easier to leave the broken untouched than to put together the pieces.
