Favorite Corners - Singapore

Singapore wraps up the Asia part of our trip and we've had a lot of fun here admiring the modern architecture and the beautiful gardens and green spaces. It is a very comfortable city to travel in and a good transition city between Asia and our next stop, which is Europe. 

The Marina Bay Sands hotel can easily be picked out in the skyline by the giant surfboard on top of three towers.

It's a tropical country, so seeing a lizard (or cockroach) here and there can be expected.

Visiting the posh Raffles hotel, home of the Singapore Sling. 

Hawkers centres. We loved them.  Sure, they close by the afternoon and you have to bring your own napkins, but the food is cheap and tasty. 

The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum is 5 stories of history and information.  We arrived during a ceremony.  And yes, there really is a tooth here.

The architecture of Chinatown.

Clarke Quay is a trendy night spot along the river with restaurants and bars, and a batmobile (on display for the upcoming movie).  The spotlight on the wall to the left is actually a bat symbol.

Spent a morning wandering through the two climate controlled (i.e. air-conditioned) conservatories of The Gardens by the Bay.  The first one we went into, shown here, is Cloud Forest.

The other conservatory is called the Flower Dome and showcases plants from different parts of the world.  Can you tell the stone plants from real stones?

The Supertrees in the Supergrove have a free nightly show where the trees light up to music.  Go early to catch a spot to lie down and stare up at this amazing light display.
